DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Implementing the Fisheries Policy;
ii. Conservation of fish and other aquatic organisms and their environment;
iii. Coordinate and manage environmental conservation;
iv. Promote sustainable harvesting of fish and other marine life, lakes, rivers, dams and lakes;
v. Provide technical advice on Quality Fishing, Production and Conservation of Fish and Fisheries, Trade and Marketing of Fish as well as Fish and Other Aquaculture;
vi. Issuing fishing licenses;
vii. Conduct fishing professional training;
viii. Supervise and enforce Fisheries Laws (e.g. ban on illegal fishing);
ix. Manage the collection of fishing data as well as revenue;
x. Coordinate fishing research activities;
xi. Provide advice and training to the public on the development and sustainable use of fishing resources; and
xii. Inspect fish quality and fishery products and set national standards.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Employed with a Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries Science / Management, Zoology, Microbiology, Marine Biology, Food Science and Aqua culture.
