If your main messaging app is WhatsApp, then there is a good chance of getting more photos and videos.
You can try to download files manually, so you only download the ones you want, but usually the files you need to take up most of your Android device.
You can upload your own videos and photos. Still, you run the risk of not having enough time to store them, and then accidentally deleting them.
By making your WhatsApp files upload to Google Photos, you can relax and know that if you reset your factory for some reason, your videos and photos are safe.

Option to Save a copy of the Photo Library to Google
Another way you can save your copy of WhatsApp media is through the Photo Library tab on Google. Once you open the Google Photos app, you'll see three tabs below. Right on the right will be the Library option.
At the top, you will see all the folders that are stored in your Google Photos account. If you see a folder with a crossed cloud, that special folder is not saved.
You can fix that by tapping the folder above, toggle the backup option and sync. If you do not enable it, you will see that the cloud that has crossed will be gone. That means the folder is now backed up with a copy of Google Photos.
At the top, you will see all the folders that are stored in your Google Photos account. If you see a folder with a crossed cloud, that special folder is not saved.
It is important to store your videos and photos from WhatsApp to Photos on Google because you make sure that family photos that you do not want to lose are safe. By enabling the automatic backup feature, you can enjoy your photos without having to worry about whether you saved them or not. If you delete them from your device, you know you can rely on other copies of Google Photos intentionally or not.
