The Minister of State, Office of the President and Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Ummy Mwalimu said the ministry has already applied for a permit for 6000 teacher jobs.
He said they have applied for approval from the Office of the President, Public Service Management and Good Governance for 6000 teacher jobs.
Ummy Mwalimu told Habari Leo yesterday that following the order of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan to order the appointment of 6000 teachers, they worked on the issue.
"After the order, I told the secretary-general to write a letter to the Secretary of Personnel to get approval, and my secretary-general has already sent it and we are waiting for approval from the Staff," said Ummy Mwalimu.
Ummy said although there are vacancies advertised last year and the applicants are many we will not take on the database but will re-advertise those vacancies.
Last year, there were about 100,000 applicants and the number of applicants and criteria was about 70, 000 and the number of candidates was 8000, ”said Ummy Mwalimu.
He added "but now I have decided that if I take the content of the database I will deny the rights of others who have not attached their certificates, so we got permission from the Service we will re-advertise so that everyone can apply".
He thanked the President for seeing the need to hire 6000 teachers to fill the gap of dead, retired or retiring teachers.
