Introduction
Towards the development of science and technology and especially in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) many companies and employers now want job applications to be made by email or e-mail (not demonic letters).
Job applications via email help the following: saving costs such as printing and transportation save letter time from the applicant until it reaches the employer Also speed up communication after the application is sent.
If you are applying for a job by email consider the following:
- Use an email with your official names. For example, if you are Theodory Edmund Ngonyani, email should be like this. theodoryngonyani@gmail.com, theodoryngonyani@outlook.com e.t.c. At least two of your names appear on the email ID. You can even add numbers if your two names are not available. Note this will increase the trust of the prospective employee rather than using email like dumelamji@gmail.com or dijose@gmail.com etc.
- Also use emails that follow international expertise. For example, I do not recommend using microsoft, yahoo or other emails that use very offensive security blocking policy. A typical example is that Microsoft's emails are leading the way in blocking hundreds of emails worldwide. So if you have been sent an email by an employer whose emails have been blocked by Microsoft Server it is clear that the call to the interview will not reach you and you will be missing the job. Yahoo also are following. Gmail is the only email service provider that does not block any email but uses something called "Intelligent Email Blocking Engine". Your emails if you are concerned are sent to the spam folder.
- Explain in the headline the subject of the email you are applying for. Some completely give the subject of the title so you have to copy and paste it. If you do not do so your application may be abandoned by the system as emails like these are filtered by the electronic system so if you make a small mistake it will cost you the applicant.
- In an email body or message tell me who you are? How did you get the job information? What do you think you will send something that others who applied for the job do not have but you have (Do not tell about your degree, diploma or certificates because your colleagues have, also do not tell about your work experience because they have more than you can) Explain your willingness to interview and start work. Also briefly state: Your level of education (only recent and relevant to the job you applied for) Your work experience (only recent and relevant to the job you have applied for) Leave your instant communications like cell phone and email ( do not leave communication through other people (aunt, uncle, mother, father and friends or neighbors). Specify that you have attached your profile (do not attach certificates or anything else as you will send them when called for an interview) Keep only the attachments that you were instructed to send, the ones that you were not told not to send because they could make you lose your job. Many employers nowadays reduce the workload of job applications including the entire application package but also the number of applicants. It is very easy to filter on the initial filter if you have just violated the clear terms. I say easy because there are so many applicants so employers have some kind of ringing.
- On the attachments make sure they all have names that match the content. For example, if you have attached a Letter of Assistant Job Application Letter, put the file name with the words. If you have attached a CV to the CV filename put the CV of your NK name etc.
