Muhimbili University of Health & Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is the
premier Institution of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania. The
University enjoys the reputation of being the oldest and largest public
University training health professionals in the country. Founded in
1963 as the Dar es Salaam School of Medicine, the School evolved
to the Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS) in
1991 and then grew into a fully accredited University in 2007.
MUHAS has two campuses; Muhimbili Campus and Mloganzila
Campus. Muhimbili Campus is situated in Ilala Municipality, in
Upanga along United Nations Road. Mloganzila Campus is located
3 km off Dar es Salaam-Mbeya highway, 25 km from Dar es Salaam.
The objectives of the University are the advancement of knowledge, diffusion and extension of technology and learning, the provision of higher education and research and, so far as is consistent with those objectives, the nurturing of the intellectual, aesthetic, social and moral growth of the students at the University.
The MUHAS Online Application System – MUHAS Online Admission system 2021/2022
As a result of an increased number of students applying to the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, student’s admission process has become more complex with interested learners applying from different geographical locations, applying for a myriad combination of subjects. In this situation is fast becoming increasingly difficult to handle such a large volume of student’s admission in the traditional methods. This has resulted to an increasing need for using technology and adapting to an online admission management system.
MUHAS has two campuses: Muhimbili Campus and Mloganzila Campus.
Important things to consider before applying online at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS).
Consider the following things for a smooth and error-free MUHAS Online application 2020/2021:

ü Form Six leavers (ACSSE)
ü Holders of Ordinary Diploma
Application Procedure
i. Applicants are advised to read carefully the admission requirements for each programme they
anticipate to apply in the advertisement before starting application to ensure that they understand
the admission requirements for program they anticipate to apply.
ii. Applicants are reminded to ensure that the names and index numbers used during applications
for admission matches with those used during their studies
iii. All applicants holding foreign qualifications must have their qualifications validated and
equated by the respective regulatory bodies/ Authorities before submitting their applications for
admissions as follows:
- The National Examination Council of Tanzania ( NECTA) in respect of Certificates of Secondary Education and Teacher education
- The National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) in respect of NTA Level 6 qualification.
- All Diploma applicants MUST have a valid Award Verification Number (AVN) issued by NACTE. Application submited without AVN will NOT be processed.
- iv. Applicants must ensure that they have adequate information for the programs of their choice, taking into account competition, one’s passes and caree aspiration (s)
v. Only applicants who meet minimum entry requirements should apply for admission
Mode of Application
All Applicants for Degree Programs are required to apply online through the university website www.
muhas.ac.tz and follow instructions given by the online application system to apply for the degree
programs of their choice. Before you start applying, make sure you have an email address and a valid
mobile number.
Application fees (non -refundable) 10,000/= TZS (for local applicants) should be paid to the
University via mobile money by carefully following payment instructions and procedures which is in
the application portal.
For foreign applicants, application fee is 10 USD which should be deposited directly to MUHAS NBC
Bank account.
All transfer charges must be borne by the applicants themselves
